English language media is reporting that ramdev plans to raise an army. Really?

The facts: He is raising a self defense group. It cannot be called as an army. The media’s language gives an impression that he is raising an “army” with guns and rocket launchers and stuff. This is sure to scare the populace who have not heard and understood ramdev in his own words. The group is being trained to fight using sticks. You heard it – sticks.

Those who do not understand hindi rely on english news media for their information. These english media do not properly translate what he said. Whether they do it intentionally or not-I don’t know.

Congress is going out of its way to paint him in a communal color. To them, anyone who wears saffron is an enemy.

Media coverage of baba ramdev’s protest and UPA’s response indicate one thing: They associate color saffron with hindu extremism.

Hindu’s are peaceful people. We never attacked or invaded any country for centuries. In fact we are so good that we welcomed our enemies (mughals and british). That is an undisputable fact.

So why is the UPA screaming hindu terror and invoking the name of RSS?
The only reason I can think of is that they are trying to spoil the name of ramdev. They can’t stand the color saffron and anything associated with it. To them, saffron=extremism.

The media, which is supposed to be neutral, is taking sides. Articles in english language newspapers have a subtle anti-ramdev bias.

The media has to stop taking sides. They are trying to mislead people.

I watched the verdict on TV and here I have 2 clips that show the chaos:

Scenes like this best describe the image of india that foreigners have. And this is the image that we portray to the world, and we get angry if they point out. I can’t understand how, an event of such great importance, could be bungled.

And this is not something that happened overnight, we had enough time to prepare and organize, but nobody did it, or even if the event was planned, the plan was not adhered. What we saw on TV was disgusting.

These kinds of chaotic, unplanned scenes never happen in developed countries. And I’m not just talking about the west, I’m talking about singapore, malaysia. Those countries got independence at around the same time as us. So the argument “its just been 60 years” don’t hold. Its time we stopped making excuses and take responsibility.
